“The Other Side” means a lot of things to me… I thought of the name and started working on the album early on in the pandemic. At the time, I was thinking about how we had to make it to “the other side” of the pandemic and of the racial/ political tension that was ongoing. I was also thinking how it was important to try to be empathetic and to see “the other side.” But as time went on and I kept creating songs, the title took on a different meaning for me. It became about me going through growing pains and coming out on “the other side” as a better person. I didn’t think I could make an album like this until I reached the success that I used to dream about, but throughout this process I was reminded how success is really all about perspective.
